Join Cognition Education’s maths experts for a workshop series that explores teaching fractions.

Cognition Education is hosting an in-person workshop that focuses on building key knowledge and understanding of fractions, proportions and ratios.

These workshops are designed for Primary and Intermediate School Classroom Teachers (and leaders), to develop content knowledge and pedagogical thinking. Participants will develop an understanding of the big ideas of Fractional Thinking and will identify relevant materials, strategies and activities for teaching fractions, proportions and ratios.

Facilitated by Sarah Thomas

Sarah is based in Nelson and has spent the last four years as an across COL Lead teacher, implementing the Relationships First Programme. Sarah has become a trained Impact Coach, voice collector and leader in the Relationships First space. Now, Sarah is looking to work with more schools across the region to build collective capability and share the Relationships First Mahi.

Sarah is also a skilled mathematician and supports schools with Assessment for Learning and Cultural capability through a Mathematics lens. With years of practical experience in the classroom, Sarah has a great repour with students, teachers, leaders and whanau alike, and can support your school to make sustainable and worthwhile changes.
